About Grand Avenue Designs

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of doing 2 things when I grew up: becoming a florist and designing beautiful spaces.

So I would take any and every arrangement apart in my parent’s house and at my grandparent’s house, and then put each of them back together. Fresh, faux or in the garden, I have always loved the beauty of floral design. I also loved designing and redesigning my bedroom as a kid. From styling my dresser or choosing new paint colors (and borders in the 90’s haha) I loved redecorating! But I never dreamed I would have the opportunity to do this here and now.

You see, those dreams were always in my ‘some day’ pile! I mean I’ve got 2 little ones at home and a husband in full time ministry. I had always assumed I would get to that ‘some day’ pile in the very, VERY far future!

But God had other plans…

In 2016, God began to draw out those dreams and desires from the depths of my heart. It was awkwardly hard to acknowledge them at first. But God, in His kindness, gave me time to process what was coming.

Over the course of 11 months (from January 2016 to December 3, 2016) God was dropping hints. From encouraging words from friends and family, to dreams others had and would share at specific times, I would basically write each of them down and put them in my ‘some day’ pile. It’s so ironic that I never saw any connection between the countless words I had received over the course of last year. But God was weaving those seemingly random pieces together into the tapestry that would become Grand Avenue Designs.

So the dream of becoming a florist and designer ‘someday’ has now become my day-in day-out reality. Is it any wonder that I often pinch myself to make sure I’m not still dreaming?
